Netherlands manager Xavi Hernandez has praised captain Virgil van Dijk ahead of his potential 100th international cap against Serbia. The Dutch side aims to claim the top spot in Nations League Group 2 following a dramatic second-half comeback against Greece.
Speaking ahead of the match, Xavi paid tribute to the Liverpool defender, highlighting his leadership qualities and importance to the Dutch national team.

Expressing complete trust in VVD’s defensive anchor, Xavi added that he is very happy to work with a true leader.
His words, “It could be an emotional day for Virgil.
I am very happy to work with him; he is a true leader. He fits right in. One hundred caps — it’s incredible. Will he play? We’ll see tomorrow.”
Van Dijk added, “It’s a great milestone, but that’s not where the focus is right now.
First we are going to put our heads together, because that first half was unacceptable.”
