The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has suspended all campaigns and party activities for three days in honour of military personnel who died in the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, aircraft crash in Ondo State.
The party announced the decision in a statement issued in Owerri on Thursday by its State Publicity Secretary, Lancelot Obiaku.

According to the statement, the suspension takes immediate effect and applies to the party’s organs, ward, local government and senatorial district chapters, as well as its candidates.
The PDP said the decision was taken as a mark of respect for the deceased officers and crew members and in solidarity with their grieving families.
The party expressed sadness over the incident and extended its condolences to the families, friends, colleagues and loved ones of the victims, as well as the Nigerian Army and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria.
It described the deaths as a painful loss, noting that the personnel had dedicated their lives to the service and protection of the country.
The party also prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved families, while asking God to grant the deceased eternal rest.
In a separate development, the Imo PDP commended President Bola Tinubu and security agencies for their efforts in securing the release of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members who were abducted in the state days earlier.
The party said the release of the prospective corps members had brought relief to their families and the wider community, noting that it had been concerned about their safety since news of the abduction emerged.
It praised the president and security personnel for their roles in the operation and urged continued efforts to protect lives and property across the country.
The PDP stressed that no family should have to endure the uncertainty and distress associated with having loved ones held in captivity.
The party concluded by offering prayers for the victims of the aircraft crash and their families, while calling for renewed commitment to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges. citeturn845161news1turn845161news9
