The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of promoting fears of electoral manipulation to discourage Nigerians from participating in the 2027 general elections.
The council urged eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and reject claims that the outcome of the forthcoming election had already been determined in favour of the ruling party.

The ADC-PCC Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the position known in a statement, describing narratives suggesting that votes would not count as misleading and designed to encourage voter apathy.
Ologbondiyan alleged that the APC was spreading such fears because of concerns over public dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the economy and insecurity.
He urged Nigerians not to surrender their democratic rights by staying away from polling stations, insisting that citizens could influence the country’s leadership through active participation in the electoral process.
“Go and collect your PVC. Your voter’s card is your power and your guarantee that you will vote on January 16, 2027,” he said.
The ADC campaign spokesman maintained that existing electoral safeguards, including the amended Electoral Act, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Result Viewing Portal (IReV), could help strengthen the credibility of the election.
He also called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, women’s organisations and civil society organisations to mobilise eligible voters and discourage attempts to undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
Ologbondiyan assured Nigerians that the ADC, under its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would deploy polling agents across the country to monitor voting, protect ballots and challenge any alleged attempt to manipulate the results.
He maintained that widespread participation remained essential to ensuring that the 2027 election reflected the wishes of the electorate.
The ADC’s statement comes as political parties intensify preparations for the next general elections, with voter participation, electoral transparency and the credibility of the process emerging as key issues in the political debate.
