The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has criticised President Bola Tinubu over persistent killings and abductions across Nigeria, insisting that the president must take urgent action to protect citizens before the 2027 general election.
The party’s National Chairman, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, made the position known in a statement condemning the worsening security situation in several parts of the country.

Baba-Ahmed accused the Tinubu administration of failing to adequately protect lives and property, arguing that repeated attacks by armed groups and other criminal elements had left many communities vulnerable.
The PRP identified Kwara, Niger, Benue, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Borno, Plateau and Yobe as states affected by persistent insecurity.
According to the party, the continued killings and abductions have disrupted livelihoods, threatened local economies and increased the hardship facing millions of Nigerians.
“The scale of the killings and abductions of helpless citizens and the rising impunity of their tormentors suggests that Nigerians live in a lawless country,” the statement said.
The party also expressed concern over the pressure on military personnel and civilian volunteers involved in efforts to confront armed groups, warning that the situation required more decisive government intervention.
It further accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of prioritising political interests over the urgent need to improve security. The party, however, did not provide details to substantiate its allegation that public funds were being excessively deployed to secure political support.
Baba-Ahmed maintained that Nigerians should not have to wait until the end of Tinubu’s tenure before demanding effective measures to stop the violence.
“President Tinubu still has four months to go before his defeat. He has a responsibility to live up to his oath to protect the lives and welfare of Nigerians,” he said.
The PRP chairman urged the president to take responsibility for addressing the security crisis and ensure that concrete steps were taken to prevent further attacks and abductions.
He also called on Nigerians to speak out against the violence and demand greater accountability from those responsible for safeguarding the country.
The party’s statement comes amid continuing national concerns over insecurity, with the PRP insisting that protecting citizens must remain an immediate government priority rather than a promise for the future.
