Several supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were reportedly injured, while vehicles conveying them were damaged in an attack ahead of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s 2027 re-election campaign flag-off in Katsina State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday as the supporters travelled to Funtua for the commencement of Radda’s campaign activities in the Funtua Senatorial Zone.

According to reports, the convoy came under attack by suspected political thugs while passing through Malumfashi Local Government Area of the state.
Some of the victims said the attackers used stones and other objects to smash the windscreens of vehicles and assault passengers.
The attack reportedly left several vehicles damaged and a number of APC supporters injured.
The affected supporters called on security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible were brought to justice.
They also urged the authorities to strengthen security along major roads and around political gatherings to prevent further attacks as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.
Despite the reported incident, the campaign flag-off proceeded as scheduled in Funtua.
The event formed part of Radda’s efforts to present his administration’s achievements and development plans to residents across Katsina State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The campaign is expected to cover the state’s three senatorial zones, 34 local government areas and 361 wards.
As of the time the report was filed, there was no official statement from the state government or security agencies concerning the attack.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of political supporters during campaign activities, with calls for security agencies to act swiftly to prevent violence ahead of the next general elections.
