The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State has dismissed speculations suggesting it is considering an alliance with any other political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Abia State Chairman of the PDP, Abraham Amah, made the clarification on Thursday at the party’s state secretariat in Umuahia while responding to questions on reports of a possible political alliance.
Amah described the PDP as strong, united and formidable, insisting that the party is fully prepared to contest the 2027 elections independently.

According to him, anyone making statements proposing or endorsing an alliance is not speaking on behalf of the party.
“As far as we are concerned, as of today, we do not have any agreement with any other political party.
“I am privileged to know what is happening in the party, not only in the state but at the national level. So, we do not have any such agreement with anybody,” Amah said.
The state chairman also dismissed claims of a leadership crisis within the Abia PDP, maintaining that there is no faction in the party.
He stated that the names of the party’s candidates for various elective positions had already been successfully uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, portal, an indication that the party’s structure remains intact.
Amah further disclosed that the party had commenced efforts to reconcile aggrieved aspirants who participated in its primary elections.
Meanwhile, the PDP governorship candidate in Abia State, Kelechi Anosike, promised to implement a N90,000 minimum wage for civil servants if elected governor in 2027.
Anosike criticised the salary payment system of the current Abia State government, alleging that it was not paying the approved N70,000 minimum wage across board.
