The National Executive Committee (NEC) of Accord has expelled eight members and suspended three others over allegations of gross misconduct, anti-party activities, and constitutional breaches.
This decision was announced in a communiqué signed by the party’s National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, and National Secretary, Adebukola A. Ajaja, following a meeting held on Wednesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The NEC reviewed the findings of a 7-member Disciplinary Committee set up by the National Working Committee (NWC) to investigate the allegations.

“Accordingly, NEC expelled eight members and suspended three others for violating Article 20A (vii), (ix), (xiii), and 20A (1) of the party constitution,” the communiqué stated.
Those expelled include:
- Professor Christopher Imumolen, former presidential candidate.
- Comrade Lanre Ogundare, Lagos State chairman.
- Surajo Ibrahim, Zamfara State chairman.
- Muktar Abdalla, Borno State chairman.
- Chief Abiola Samuel Odeoba, former Ekiti State chairman.
- Dr. Falaye Ajibola, former Ondo State chairman.
- Prince Adebisi Wale Ganiy.
- Dzingina Jacob Ephraim, Nasarawa State chairman.
The suspended members are:
- Salimu Lawal Boyi, Katsina State chairman.
- Fatima Mohammed Zarumi, Acting Yobe State chairman.
- Abdullahi Isa Kasowa, Bauchi State chairman.
The NEC emphasized the importance of maintaining order and adherence to the party’s constitution to prevent anarchy and preserve the party’s integrity.
A vote of confidence was passed on Maxwell Mgbudem as the authentic National Chairman.
The committee accused Professor Christopher Imumolen of attempting to destabilize the party, alleging he instigated a rebellion against the leadership and misled members.
However, the NEC welcomed back party members who had been influenced by Imumolen’s actions.
The party noted that the court had vacated an interim order obtained by Imumolen, which expired on September 4, 2024.
The ruling by Justice M. M. Adamu of the FCT High Court also ordered the removal of intruders from the party’s national secretariat.
The expelled members have since vacated the secretariat, effectively ending the attempts to destabilize the party.
The Disciplinary Committee comprised Emeka Uwakolam (Chairman), Bishop Benson Ijachi (Secretary), Gabriel Almond Kubua, Yusuf A. Training, Hassan Bello, Ndubuisi Paschal Ani, and Adeniyi A. Philip.
NEC urged all members to remain united, emphasizing, “There is no faction in Accord.”
