The Adamawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the official results of the recently concluded governorship election in Edo State, describing it as “daylight robbery.”
During a press briefing in Yola on Tuesday, the party called on its national leadership in Abuja and Edo State to swiftly seek legal redress to challenge the outcome of the election.
Ahmed Shehu, the Adamawa State PDP Chairman, who addressed the media at the party’s secretariat, expressed the chapter’s alignment with the stance of the PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and PDP governors, who have all claimed that the election was compromised.

Shehu emphasised that the results, as presented by the Chairman of the Edo PDP National Campaign Council, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, indicated that the PDP candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, secured the majority of votes.
“We abhor the desperation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which employed all lethal means, including violent manipulation, to subvert the wishes of the generality of Edo people,” Shehu stated.
He further condemned the “daylight political robbery by the APC,” warning that such actions pose a significant threat to Nigeria’s democracy and could exacerbate the already growing political apathy in the country.
“We are solidly behind our national party leadership taking any legal measure necessary to ensure that the stolen mandate in Edo State is retrieved,” the chairman concluded.
The Adamawa PDP has joined the growing chorus of voices within the party calling for justice and legal intervention following the controversial results of the Edo governorship election.
