The Adamawa State Government has postponed the resumption of schools for the third term due to a measles outbreak in some Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.
The state Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development issued a circular on May 6, 2024, stating that the resumption date, initially scheduled for May 6, 2024, has been postponed to May 13, 2024.
The circular, signed by the Permanent Secretary, Aisha Umar, explained that the postponement is aimed at mitigating the spread of the disease and enabling the Primary Health Care Agency to vaccinate the age group of children vulnerable to measles.

All public and private schools in the state have been directed to close down accordingly until the new resumption date.
Earlier, on May 3, the media reported the state government’s confirmation of a measles outbreak in two LGAs, which had claimed 42 lives by that time.
