Abdulrazak Gidado, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the forthcoming Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency bye-election, has urged the Taraba State government to increase security efforts in combating the rising challenges of banditry and kidnapping.
Speaking in Jalingo, the state capital, on Sunday, Gidado expressed deep concern about the surge in kidnappings and killings by bandits in certain areas of the state.
He emphasized the need for both the state and federal governments to address this escalating threat promptly to ensure a smooth bye-election in the state.
Gidado called for the implementation of innovative strategies by security agencies to tackle the criminal elements effectively.
Additionally, he encouraged citizens to prioritize security awareness and provide security personnel with any crucial information that could assist in achieving the desired security objectives.
The three local government councils comprising the federal constituency have witnessed a surge in criminal activities, including kidnapping and armed banditry.
The situation has led to the ongoing hostage situation, especially in Yorro and Jalingo.
As the bye-election approaches, Gidado’s appeal for heightened security measures underscores the importance of a secure environment for a peaceful and successful electoral process.
Stay tuned for further developments on the security situation ahead of the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency bye-election.
