The National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by its National Chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, has suspended several key members of the party over alleged anti-party activities.
Those suspended include Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, Balarabe Rufai and others, for actions the party described as detrimental to its unity and stability.
The decision was reached at the NWC’s regular meeting held on Thursday, according to a statement signed by Gombe.

The statement said the meeting, chaired by the national chairman, also approved new appointments and adopted several organisational resolutions.
According to the NWC, some party members were found to have engaged in anti-party collaborations and activities that caused disaffection among members and disrupted the peaceful conduct of party affairs.
“The NWC has observed that some party members have engaged in anti-party activities with coalition members, causing disaffection among party members and disrupting the peaceful coexistence of party faithful and the efficient conduct of party business,” Gombe said.
He added that, pursuant to Article 15(a) of the party’s constitution, the NWC approved the suspension of the affected members for six months.
The suspended members are: Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu; Alhaji Ibrahim Mani; Dr. Bamidele Ganiyu Ajadi; Dr. Chike Okogwu; High Chief Anayo Arinze; Hon. Kenneth Gbandi; Alhaji Said Baba Abdullahi; Ms. Hauwa Yusuf Musa; Hon. Nkem Ukandu; Barr. Peters Iyiola Oyewole; Dr. Peter Edeh; Hon. Prince Festus Igbinoba; Hon. Razak Eyiwuawi; Balarabe Rufai; and Barr. Emeka.
The NWC also warned against what it described as unauthorized Ward, Local Government and State Congresses being organised by individuals claiming to act on behalf of the party.
According to the statement, such congresses were declared null, void and of no effect, with party members and the public urged to disregard their proceedings and outcomes.
Meanwhile, the NWC approved several appointments, including Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide as Chairman, Board of Patrons; Hon. Bala Sani as Chief of Staff to the National Chairman; Abimiku Monday as Special Adviser on Strategic Communication; Muhammad Sa’ad Aboki as Director of Youth Mobilisation; Bello Shehu as Director of Finance; and Rabiu Mohammed as Administrative Secretary.
All appointees are to assume duties immediately and collect their appointment letters at the party’s national headquarters.
In addition, the NWC constituted a four-member committee to conduct the Osun State governorship primary election. The committee is chaired by Dr. Rufus Ikanmi, with Barr. Henry P. Moses as Secretary, while Muhammad Ibrahim and Alhaji Ibrahim Saleh Katagum will serve as members.
The party further disclosed that the National Executive Committee (NEC) would soon meet to set an official timetable for legitimate party congresses.
Gombe stressed that all official announcements regarding party activities would be communicated only through ADC’s authorised channels, adding that the new appointees are expected to discharge their duties with dedication and professionalism.
