The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Delta State, has declared that it is politically prepared to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and produce the next governor of the state in the 2027 general elections.
Leaders of the party made the assertion while addressing journalists at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting held in Asaba.
The Delta State Chairman of the party, Anthony Omonigho, said the ADC was entering the state’s political space without baggage and would present candidates of integrity for elective offices.

According to him, the party is determined to rewrite the political history of Delta State and Nigeria by offering selfless and purposeful leadership to the people.
Omonigho rated the performance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration as average, insisting that Deltans deserved better governance considering the enormous resources available to the state.
“We are not afraid of the challenges ahead. We are politically sophisticated. The ADC will soon commence revalidation of members and embark on aggressive membership registration,” he said.
He noted that competence would take precedence over zoning or rotation of power in the party’s choice of candidates, stressing that rotation often promotes mediocrity and poor leadership.
Omonigho further described the coalition of political interests that birthed the ADC in the state as an unstoppable movement, likening it to the Obidient Movement of 2023.
“We have formally announced the entry of the ADC into Delta State politics, with a commitment to deliver quality and purposeful leadership if given the mandate to govern in 2027,” he added.
Also speaking, Hon. Ozeghe Lawrence criticised what he described as unnecessary white elephant projects being executed by the state government.
He said the ADC had engaged in wide consultations and had developed mechanisms to manage crises and prevent factionalisation within the party.
Ozeghe alleged that leadership at both the state and national levels was in the wrong hands, stressing that the ADC had come to change the narrative and reposition governance in Delta State.
He disclosed that the party had commenced revalidation of members and an aggressive membership drive to prepare for the 2027 elections, adding that a transition team had already been inaugurated.
“ADC is ready to occupy Government House in 2027. Delta State was created on the same day as Akwa Ibom State, yet towns in Akwa Ibom are far better developed. With all the resources at Delta’s disposal, the state is still declining,” he said.
Ozeghe maintained that many stakeholders in the state were yearning for change, noting that while some projects touched lives, others were unnecessary and wasteful.
