The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has clarified that it is not calling for President Bola Tinubu’s resignation despite the escalating insecurity in Zamfara State.
Instead, the party urged the President to fulfil his constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property in Zamfara and across the country.
ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the call in a statement on Friday while condemning the administration’s handling of the security crisis.

The party’s reaction followed reports that bandits have imposed a ₦56 million levy on farmers in some Zamfara communities.
Abdullahi noted that insecurity, which Tinubu used as a major campaign talking point, has worsened since he assumed office.
He stressed the urgent need for federal intervention to restore peace in Zamfara.
“No one is calling on him to resign. The ADC does not want President Tinubu to resign,” Abdullahi stated. “We only ask him to do his job.
We also ask the pertinent question: why did the President think that the security situation in Rivers State warranted a state of emergency, but the one in Zamfara—marked by industrial-scale kidnapping and direct challenges to the Nigerian state through bandit taxes—does not even deserve a direct comment from him?”
The party urged President Tinubu to prioritise the crisis, saying, “We would like to urge the President to drop whatever else preoccupies him and direct his attention to Zamfara State and other regions plagued by banditry.”
