Adele was spotted enjoying herself at Lauryn Hill’s concert Wednesday at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Fans snapped pictures of her, including one with the “Hello” singer standing among the concertgoers with drink in hand, singing along to one of Hill’s songs.
“@adele knows every line of every song by @ms_laurynhill,” one caption read, according to People.
After the show, Adele paid tribute on Instagram to Hill and her groundbreaking 1998 album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” which Adele counts as her favorite album.
“I saw Lauryn Hill in 1999 at Brixton Academy when I was 10 years old,” Adele wrote. “Tonight I saw her play at the Hollywood Bowl. I’ve just turned 30! What a woman what a record, by far Miseducation is my favorite record of all time.”
Hill is celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Miseducation” with a tour, which makes a stop tonight at the Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View. Hill has been performing the album — which featured the hits “Doo Wop (That Thing),” “Ex-Factor” and “Everything Is Everything” — in its entirety.
“Such an honest representation of love and life, I feel I can relate too but also I know theres elements and levels i never will be able to,” Adele said of the record in her Instagram post. “Ms Lauryn Hill was on form in every way possible. Thank you for the record of a life time, thank you for your wisdom! Thank you for existing. Happy 20th x”
The album garnered five Grammys for Hill, including album of the year and best new artist. The mercurial artist has yet to release a follow-up studio album to “Miseducation,” which has been celebrated for as one of the first albums to seamlessly fuse hip-hop and soul.
