Adele was favourite to be the biggest winner at the 2016 MTV VMAs behind Beyonce, who led the nominations with 11 nominations.
‘Hello’ is the most nominated video, appearing in seven categories, but Adele sadly wasn’t called from the other side during the ceremony.
Beyonce however became the most decorated star of the night for winning eight awards, including Vidoe of the Year for ‘Formation’. She also broke the record for most VMAs with 24 wins, surpassing Madonna’s record of 20 victories, at Madison Square Garden last night, August 28.
Categories Adele lost out include Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Art Direction, Best Direction, and Best Editing.
Others are Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects for ‘Send My Love (to Your New Lover)’ and Video of the Year, which she competed against Justin Bieber‘s ‘Sorry’, Kanye’s ‘Famous’, Drake’s ‘Hot Bling’ and Beyonce’s ‘Formation’ that won the nod.
