Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has been elected as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party for the 2026 governorship election.
Adeleke emerged unopposed as the sole aspirant in the party’s primary held on Wednesday in Osogbo.
InfoStride News reports that 150 delegates were accredited for the exercise, with five ballots declared invalid, leaving a total of 145 valid votes.

Announcing the result, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Hajia Mariam Saleh—represented by the Secretary, Abulazeez Salaudeen—said Governor Adeleke secured all 145 valid votes to clinch the party’s ticket.
Saleh noted that the committee had fulfilled its mandate of conducting a free, fair and credible primary, adding that the process was witnessed by party agents and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The National Chairman of the Accord Party, Maxwell Mgbudem, presented the party’s flag and certificate of return to Adeleke. He commended the governor’s performance and urged him to sustain his developmental efforts as he seeks a second term under the party’s platform.
In his acceptance speech, Adeleke thanked the party leadership, delegates, and members for entrusting him with the mandate.
“I accept my nomination as candidate of Accord Party for the Osun 2026 governorship election. The confidence you repose in me will not be regretted,” he said.
He added that his candidacy represents the continuation of development across the state, assuring that Osun would not return to what he described as “the dark days” of unfulfilled promises.
With his endorsement by the Accord Party, Adeleke said, “the opposition against the will of the people has been rejected.”
