The Afenifere Youth Coalition has criticized former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, accusing him of “relentless attacks on Yoruba public office holders,” particularly the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun.
The group’s reaction follows Sowore’s recent legal troubles after he was arrested by the Nigeria Police over allegations that the IGP’s continued stay in office was illegal.
Sowore was arraigned at a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday and subsequently granted bail in the sum of N10 million.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos on Friday, the coalition’s Director of Strategy, Rasak Oladosu, and President, Samuel Isijola, condemned Sowore’s alleged “defamation, blackmail, and cyberbullying,” calling for legal action against him.
The coalition accused the activist of exploiting social media to spread misinformation and incite unrest in the country.
Describing him as a “failed politician and professional troublemaker,” they argued that his political ambitions under the AAC revealed a lack of leadership capacity, citing his inability to secure significant electoral support.
“To Nigerians, we say: Do not be deceived by his theatrics. Sowore does not care about Nigerian citizens; he only cares about his pockets and anti-democracy sponsors,” the coalition stated.
They further urged his supporters not to be swayed by his actions, warning that “social media is not the court of law.”
Calling on the judiciary and security agencies, the coalition demanded that Sowore be held accountable for his “reckless and defamatory actions,” asserting that “Nigeria is bigger than any individual, and we will not allow one man’s selfish agenda to derail the progress and focus of our nation.”
