Libyan side, Ahli Benghazi and Raja Athletic Club of Morocco made winning starts in the first leg matches of the preliminary round of the Orange CAF Champions League.
Ahli romped to a 4-0 win over Foullah Edifice of Chad on Friday in Tunis whilst Raja tore apart Diamond Stars of Sierra Leone with a 6-0 win in Casablanca.
Despite playing away from home due to security concerns in their native Libya, Ahli outplayed their guests with Zimbabwe-import Edward Sadomba grabbing a brace. The former Dynamos forward broke the deadlock on 26 minutes before Abdelrahman Fetori doubled the lead from the spot on 55 minutes.
Moataz Al Mehdi scored the third goal on 71 minutes before Sadomba completed the rout three minutes from time.
Elsewhere at the Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca, Mouhssine Iajour scored four times, two in each half with Abdelilah Hafidi and Abdelkabir El Ouadi the other scorers.
Iajour netted the opener after just eight minutes before Hafidi made it 2-0 before half time. The Moroccans resumed with the same momentum, with Iajour increasing the tally 60 seconds into the second half as the visitors struggled to find their feet.
El Ouadi extended the lead on 55 minutes before Iajour added two more in the 66 and 82 minutes to seal victory in grand style.
The return matches will be held on the weekend of 14-16 February with the winners advancing to the next round.
