Activist and politician Aisha Yesufu has declared that she is not a registered member of the Labour Party (LP) or any other political party in Nigeria.
Yesufu, who was a prominent member of the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential campaign council, made the clarification during an appearance on Mic On, a podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye.
The activist emphasized that her involvement in politics is not driven by personal gain or the pursuit of political appointments, as she has built her financial independence through entrepreneurship.
“For me, I worked on my financial independence before I started speaking on the Nigerian issues,” she said.
She further insisted that she has never sought contracts or appointments from any political figure or institution.
“I am not a member of the Labour Party. I have never been a card-carrying member of any party,” Yesufu stated.
“I dare anybody, living or dead, to say that I, Aisha Yesufu, have ever been to your place to look for an appointment, contract, or whatever.
I am a trader! I buy, sell, distribute, and build houses.”
Yesufu’s remarks highlight her commitment to civic advocacy while distancing herself from partisanship or political patronage.
