As part of his effort to give succour to the less-privileged, a Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President, Akeem Olabisi Amao on Tuesday celebrated the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki’s birthday with the less privileges, particularly the sick, while also donating some cash to them.
Addressing the people on the sick bed at the Ilorin General Hospital, he said the money being given to them was out of what God had blessed him with that he was extending to them.
Hon. Amao emphasized that, it was only right for him to give back to the same society which made him. He said: “It is a show of love to my people, we can’t sit in the power corridor, enjoy the comfort of the office without remembering them. The Senate President that we are celebrating, is a man who believe so much in philanthropic gestures. The core value of his teaches and preaches is what I’ve come to exhibit today in his honour.”
“It is just normal, just good for me to go back to the street and give back to the people. This is my style, this is me naturally, people who are closer to me can testify to this, it’s just that this time around it is more elaborate because the gestures are coming in commemoration of our Leader’s birthday. He stated.
“The more people you can touch, the better for your life today and tomorrow. A lot of people are crying for help out there, we should endeavour within our limit to reach out to them. I have come here today, to assist some sick, financially; just yesterday, I paid for the repair of a motorised borehole in a community to support water supply in the area; I have also paid some students’ school fees. All these in the name of celebrating Dr Saraki’s 55th birthday. While I started my celebration at a soccer viewing centre on Monday, I paid the entrance charges of everyone at the place and also took care of their menu/refreshment packages. He said
“You see, most of these people will never walk into the government house asking for contract, asking for help, they will not even be allowed to get in unless the governor leave the comfort of his office to come and meet with them wherever they are and that is why most of us who are by the grace of God more blessed in the society should rise up to the voice of the needy. He noted
He maintained that having witnessed situations where unavailability of cash has taken so many lives in our society, he understands the pains and agony of poverty, hence, his decision to celebrate the Senate President’s birthday with the sick. “Out of the little God has given to me, instead of calling friends and buying drinks to celebrate our Leader, why don’t I just share it with the needy, and you never can tell what God can do out of it. After all, the Icon we are celebrating is a man who is giving it all to humanity.” Amao Stressed.
An eye witness who pleaded anonymity said: “Akeem Amao is a wonderful and cheerful giver. People like him are rare. He is not a giver of showoff, he believes so much in helping people, we hope he continues in the act”. Meanwhile, Hon. Akeem has also promised that more are still underway.
