President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Ondo Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on his Supreme Court victory.
The judgement delivered on Wednesday upheld his re-election in the October 10, 2020 polls.
Buhari, in a statement by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, said the development confirmed the popularity of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Nigerian leader urged elected leaders to always place the people first in their programmes and projects.
Buhari hailed Akeredolu for assiduously working for the development of the state.
He commended the governors’ reforms, which he said has continued to attract the goodwill of investors, and his insistence that education, health and security take priority.
“The Supreme Court Judgement, preceded by that of the Court of Appeal, further bolsters the strength and reach of the APC, and its bright chances of consolidation in coming elections.”
Buhari called on the opposition to sheathe their sword and work for the development of Ondo State.
