The Akoko Progressive Movement (APM), a faction within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has raised allegations against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
They claim that the governor has been rewarding individuals who allegedly worked against the party’s interests during the 2023 general elections with appointments.
According to the group, two individuals recently appointed as cabinet members by Governor Aiyedatiwa did not support the ambitions of President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 polls.

The appointments have reportedly caused apprehension among party members in the state, with many feeling sidelined despite their efforts and support for the APC.
In a statement signed by the group’s Director of Media, Seye Johnson, they expressed discontent with the appointments, particularly highlighting one appointee’s alleged campaign against Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during the Akoko North-West/Akoko North-East House of Representatives election in 2023.
The group accused Governor Aiyedatiwa of potentially damaging the APC’s prospects in Ondo State, stating, “The appointments so far made by Governor Aiyedatiwa are confirming fears in most quarters that he intends to kill the APC in Ondo State.”
They also raised concerns about the governor’s decision to swear in one of the appointees, despite purported backlash and rejection from the people of Akoko.
The APM appealed to the national leaders of the APC to intervene and call Governor Aiyedatiwa to order, in a bid to prevent further political turmoil in the state.
