The Real Madrid forward is edging closer to his Real Madrid exit after falling out of favour under Zinedine Zidane.
The French boss has tried to convince Morata to stay in the Spanish capital but Morata has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.
Some reports suggest personal terms have already been agreed between Morata and United and it is now down to the clubs to agree a fee.
Spanish publication Marca claim Madrid are standing firm in their £70m valuation but United are reluctant to meet their asking price.
But the report suggests talks between the clubs are progressing well.
The negotiations are being dragged out though and Morata wants his future decided by next week, Marca claim.
Jose Mourinho has been keen to sign the former Juventus striker for some time as he looks to find Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s replacement.
Morata scored 15 goals in La Liga last season as Los Blancos pipped Barcelona to the title.
The 24-year-old struggled for game time though with Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema preferred.
And even despite the reports of Ronaldo threatening to leave the Bernabeu, Morata does not want to stay.
He wants a fresh start in England and hopes his future can finally be settled by the end of the month when he returns from his holidays.
United will also be hoping to get a deal done in time to take Morata on their pre-season tour of America on July 9.
