Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has called on the Federal Government to suspend ongoing electioneering campaigns and prioritise efforts to address rising insecurity across the country.
Amaechi made the call while speaking on the state of the nation, stressing that the worsening security situation should be treated as a national emergency ahead of political activities.
According to him, meaningful elections cannot be conducted in an atmosphere of fear and instability.

“There can be no meaningful elections if citizens do not feel safe in their own communities,” he said.
The former minister urged authorities to place greater emphasis on the protection of lives and property, warning that continued political campaigns amid persistent killings, kidnappings, and unrest could erode public trust in government.
He added that restoring security across the country should take precedence over political engagements in the lead-up to future elections.
