Amosun Underscores Importance of Regular Training in Efficient Service Delivery

Regular training and re-training is a tool needed for achieving efficient service delivery in any government, Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has declared.

 

Governor Amosun made this assertiontoday in Ota while declaring open a 3-day retreat tagged “Consolidation of Present Gains and Charting the Way Forward” organised for top government functionaries and bureaucrats in the State civil service.

 

According to him, continuous training of officials remained the only means of keeping them abreast of developments and happenings and making them to deliver in line with international best practices, saying that the 3-day exercise would be an avenue for participants to gain experience and come up with ideas that could be explored to further drive the socio-economic fortune of the State to a greater height.

 

“We want to continue to keep the available status and rich heritage of our State among the comity of States and the world at large, so the best way to go about this is through a retreat of this kind. It is no news that most influential people in Nigeria are either indigenes of Ogun or doing business here. This is not accidental because it is truly Ogun standard”, the Governor said.

 

Consequently, Governor Amosun tasked participants to cross fertilise ideas in the course of the training, noting that “our people’s expectation on our administration is very high and we cannot but deliver”.

 

In his lecture, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Dele Alake emphasised that it is important for any responsible and responsive government to do a regular check on its performance through an intelligent information gathering machinery to enhance feedback.

 

Alake affirmed that the Amosun led-administration in Ogun State had been a good product based on its remarkable performance since inception, advising that it should consolidate on the feat already recorded.

 

Participants at the on-going training include members of the State Executive Council, Permanent Secretaries and General Managers of parastatals among others.
