Former Chelsea manager, Andre Villas-Boas is keen to lure Super Eagles captain, Mikel John Obi to China to join him at his new club, Shanghai SIPG.
Mikel has not played a competitive game for Chelsea under manager, Antonio Conte and an exit from the Stamford Bridge club seems extremely likely in the coming days.
Villas-Boas, who replaced Sven-Goran Eriksson as boss of the Chinese Super League club three weeks ago, is now also plotting a huge transfer coup to bring the Nigeria captain to China.
Mikel, 29, joined Chelsea in 2006 and his current contract runs out at the end of this season.
He is not expected to be handed an extension and the Mirror is now reporting that he could team up with Villas-Boas in China.
French side Olympique Marseille are keen to land Mikel in January. But they are now facing competition from Villas-Boas and Shanghai SIPG who are one of China’s richest clubs and capable of outbidding Marseille for Mikel.
