The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on leaders of the opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing them of being architects of Nigeria’s longstanding poverty, underdevelopment, and social misery.
Speaking on Lunchtime Politics, a programme on Channels Television on Thursday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the coalition’s leaders as “political villains” who had consistently failed Nigerians during their time in power.
“A coalition of political villains, many of whom are now parading themselves in the ADC, were the same individuals who, throughout our history, orchestrated the poverty, underdevelopment, and misery that Nigerians have endured,” Morka said.

The APC spokesman took specific aim at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is one of the prominent figures backing the ADC coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Morka alleged that Atiku, during his time in office, chaired numerous strategic committees that could have brought positive change to the country, but ultimately delivered nothing.
“Atiku himself chaired critical committees that could have offered Nigerians the opportunity for a better life,” Morka stated. “But he confessed publicly that their attempt to reform the power sector ended in a complete fiasco.”
Morka also referenced former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s memoirs, asserting that the former leader had documented Atiku’s alleged role in the setbacks Nigeria experienced during their time in office.
The APC spokesperson did not stop at Atiku. He also criticised other high-profile figures within the ADC-aligned opposition, including former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Nasir El-Rufai, both of whom have previously held influential positions in government under different administrations.
“These are individuals who had ample opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Nigerians, yet they failed woefully,” Morka said.
The APC’s broadside comes amid increasing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections. Several opposition leaders, including defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, and other parties, have recently coalesced under the ADC in a bid to form a united front against the ruling APC.
However, the ruling party has dismissed the move as an alliance of former leaders with questionable legacies, warning that Nigerians would not be deceived by “rebranded failures.”
“This so-called coalition is nothing more than a gathering of yesterday’s men who had their time and blew it,” Morka declared.
With the political landscape beginning to heat up, the APC’s remarks appear to signal a new phase of political confrontations and war of words ahead of the 2027 electoral contest.
