Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has extended an invitation to Rabiu Kwankwaso, the potential presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), to join the ruling party.
Ganduje expressed his willingness to assume the role of Kwankwaso’s “grandfather” within the APC if he decides to switch parties.
Speaking to APC supporters in Kano, Ganduje emphasized the hierarchical structure within the party, stating, “If you are an APC membership card holder, you are a subordinate and follower of the national leader.

If you defect to APC today, you are our subordinate and follower.”
Asserting his authority, Ganduje likened the party to a household, where newcomers are under the care of the head of the house.
He continued, “One who has what to offer is the one who welcomes others. One that doesn’t have anything to offer is the one looking for where to enter.”
Ganduje, known for his influential position within the APC, reiterated his status as a prominent figure both nationally and within Kano State.
He emphasized his leadership by stating, “36 states and Abuja, wherever I go, I am the King, I am the Sheikh, I am Modibbo, I am Alanguburo. So, the same thing here at home.”
In a symbolic gesture, Ganduje referred to Kwankwaso as “Jagora,” a title associated with the Kwankwasiyya movement, and extended an invitation for him to join the APC.
He stated, “Whoever you are and your status in the party, even if you are ‘Jagora’ (leader), once you come to APC, then your grandfather is here!”
The statement comes amid reports of efforts by President Bola Tinubu to reconcile Ganduje and Kwankwaso as part of preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
