A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s appointments, describing them as lopsided, particularly in the Northwest.
He lamented that Zamfara State, a key contributor to Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election, has been sidelined in federal appointments.
Speaking in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, during the inauguration of his political movement, the Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front (WSDF), Shinkafi urged Tinubu to correct the imbalance and intensify efforts to address the lingering security crisis in Zamfara.

Zamfara’s Role in Tinubu’s Victory Overlooked
Shinkafi, who resigned as the National Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to join APC alongside former Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed, expressed disappointment over the lack of political rewards for the state.
He pointed out that Zamfara, along with Jigawa, was one of the only two Northwestern states that supported Tinubu in the election, yet it has not been adequately compensated.
He described the appointment pattern as a betrayal of Zamfara’s people and warned that if the situation remains unaddressed, the Northwest could withdraw its support in the 2027 election, potentially jeopardizing Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Call for Urgent Action on Security and Party Unity
Shinkafi also called on the president to ramp up security efforts, particularly in Zamfara, where armed groups continue to wreak havoc—killing, abducting, and displacing innocent residents.
Furthermore, he decried the deep divisions within the Zamfara APC, stating that party members have lost trust in its leadership.
He vowed to resist any attempts to impose candidates in the 2027 elections and emphasized the need for internal party democracy to restore fairness and unity.
