Dakuku Peterside, a prominent figure in the All Progressive Congress (APC), has asserted that President Bola Tinubu must not remain passive amidst the escalating crisis in Rivers State.
In a statement, Peterside expressed concern over the deteriorating situation, labeling it a shameful state of anomie.
Peterside, emphasizing his role as a leader and stakeholder deeply invested in the state’s development, called upon President Tinubu to intervene urgently.

He stated, “Mr. President should note that Rivers State is gradually sliding into total anarchy.”
“As a statesman,” Peterside continued, “he cannot afford to fold his hands and watch the destruction of the state and institutions of democracy.
Mr. President, at this point, must place the interests of Rivers State and the people of Rivers State above every other consideration. We should be in favor of politics of good governance and inclusive development.”
The ongoing rift between Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, recently resulted in a significant defection of 27 members of the state House of Assembly to the APC.
As tensions rise, Peterside’s call for presidential intervention underscores the urgency of addressing the unfolding crisis to prevent further escalation.
