The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as grossly insensitive and unacceptable the recent allegation by Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), that the ruling party was attempting to take Kano State “through the backdoor” by declaring a state of emergency.
In a statement issued Tuesday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka criticized Kwankwaso’s comments, particularly given his prominent status.
Morka expressed disappointment, noting that Kwankwaso’s remarks were made in reference to the ongoing emirate tussle in Kano.

The APC urged Kwankwaso to focus on seeking peaceful and political solutions to the royal conflict rather than escalating tensions.
The party emphasized the need for calm in Kano State as the nation awaits judicial or political resolutions to the disputes.
Morka highlighted that the APC expected Kwankwaso to exercise discretion and understand the severe social, political, and security implications of his statements, which could incite further tension in Kano.
In his statement, Morka accused Kwankwaso of ignoring the Federal Government’s neutrality on the emirate crisis, stating, “In his unhinged bid to lash out, Kwankwaso ignored the Federal Government’s glaring neutrality on the emirate crisis in Kano from the very outset.”
The statement continued, “The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to comments reportedly made by Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano State and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), accusing the APC-led federal government of attempting to create a new breed of Boko Haram terrorists and insurgents in Northern Nigeria.
Without any shred of evidence, he further alleged that certain individuals in APC fold were goading the federal government with the goal of reclaiming Kano State through a declaration of a state of emergency.”
Morka concluded by expressing the party’s disturbance at Kwankwaso’s unfounded accusations against the Federal Government, calling for more responsible rhetoric to avoid fueling further unrest.
