Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, will be stunned by the results of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
Makinde, who leads the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West, also predicted the APC’s defeat in subsequent elections across the geopolitical zone.

He described the ruling party as a “nemesis” to Nigerians, insisting that the PDP remains strong in Ondo State.
“The PDP will defeat the APC. If wishes were horses, everyone would ride them.
The people of the South West, especially here in Ondo, are wiser now,” Makinde said during a campaign stop in the Akoko axis of the state.
The Oyo governor’s remarks followed a statement by APC chairman Ganduje, who had boasted in Akure that the APC would capture the South West, starting with the Ondo election.
Similarly, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo had recently declared the PDP “dead” in the state.
Responding to these claims, Makinde maintained that PDP’s popularity in Ondo remains strong and vowed that both Ganduje and Aiyedatiwa would be surprised by the election’s outcome.
“You can see the crowd and the enthusiasm. On November 16, the people of Ondo will send a clear message that this state, and indeed the South West, belong to the PDP,” he said.
Makinde stressed that the people’s voice would resonate across the nation. “Talk is cheap, but on November 16, the people will speak loud and clear, and everyone in Nigeria will hear it.”
