The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former presidential candidate and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), labeling him a “sacked NNPP imposter” and a “political refugee without value.”
Kwankwaso had earlier boasted of his plans to render the APC politically irrelevant in Kano State by reducing its vote tally to less than 15,000 in the 2027 general elections.
In a sharp response, the APC, through its Kano State Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, dismissed Kwankwaso’s claims as laughable, asserting that they emanated from someone who has allegedly lost his political footing after being ousted from the NNPP.

Abbas, in a statement issued on Thursday, urged Kwankwaso to “stop daydreaming” and focus on reclaiming his membership in the NNPP.
The APC described Kwankwaso as a “political refugee” who has attached himself to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf “like a leech” in a bid to remain relevant in the political landscape.
The ruling party also issued a stern warning to Kwankwaso and his allies, vowing to prevent any repeat of what it called “vote manipulation and allocation” that it alleged gave the impression that the NNPP was deeply rooted in Kano State during the 2023 general elections.
“Our teeming supporters in APC have no reason to worry about Kwankwaso, who was booted out of the NNPP due to his cluelessness and self-centeredness.
Kwankwaso should continue to wonder why he has become a wanderer in the political terrain,” the statement read.
The APC further accused Kwankwaso of being unable to adapt to the progressive ideals of the party, stating that his “over-bloated ego and domineering posture” had forced him to abandon both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The party claimed that Kwankwaso now roams the political scene without a stable platform.
Abbas also assured Kano residents that the APC is prepared to reclaim the state and liberate its people from what he described as the undue influence of Kwankwaso from his residence on Miller Road.
Kwankwaso had made his controversial remarks while hosting former councillors and special advisers who served under the administration of Abdullahi Ganduje.
During the meeting with stakeholders from Tsanyawa Local Government Area, he credited his team for sidelining the PDP in Kano during the 2023 elections, reducing the party’s votes to 15,000.
“Despite being a new political platform and starting our campaign late, we achieved remarkable success in 2023.
Now, it’s our turn to diminish APC’s influence. We will work tirelessly to ensure their votes are reduced to less than 15,000 in Kano come 2027,” Kwankwaso stated.
