The All Progressives Congress (APC) Media Network has cautioned Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State against interfering in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation of his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel.
The former governor is under investigation over allegations of money laundering, diversion of funds, and theft, following a petition by the Network Against Corruption and Trafficking (NACAT).
Governor Defends Udom Emmanuel

Speaking at a town hall meeting with the Abak Federal Constituency over the weekend, Governor Eno dismissed the allegations of N700 billion misappropriation as “false and unfounded.”
APC Media Network Condemns Governor’s Remarks
Reacting to the governor’s statement, the APC Media Network, in a statement signed by its Director General, Otuekong Iniobong John, described Eno’s remarks as hasty and preemptive, especially as the EFCC’s investigation is still ongoing.
John emphasized that it is the anti-graft agency’s responsibility to determine Emmanuel’s innocence, not the governor’s.
“Making such declarations prematurely undermines the integrity of the investigative process,” the statement read.
The group urged Governor Eno to focus on fulfilling his governance mandate rather than acting as a protector of individuals under investigation.
Call for Transparency
The APC Media Network stressed that public officials must uphold transparency and accountability in governance.
“Moving forward, we urge Governor Umo Eno to allow the EFCC to carry out its crucial work without prejudice.
Only through such actions can he reaffirm his commitment to good governance and the welfare of Akwa Ibom citizens,” the statement added.
