The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is on the verge of emerging as chairman of what it described as a “one-man” Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum.
The party’s state Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, made the claim in a statement on Saturday, asserting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in its “final throes of relevance.”
Oladejo said the ongoing wave of defections by PDP governors to the APC has weakened the opposition party’s structure and credibility.

“Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State now stands on the brink of emerging as the de facto chairman of a ‘one-man PDP Governors Forum’—a development that perfectly captures the depth of the party’s collapse,” he said.
According to him, the exodus of key stakeholders from the PDP reflects a loss of confidence in the party’s leadership and its inability to manage internal crises.
“Let it be said plainly, this is not coincidence; it is rejection. The steady exodus of governors and key stakeholders is a direct vote of no confidence in the PDP’s leadership, its lack of ideological clarity, and its chronic inability to resolve internal crises,” Oladejo added.
He argued that a party unable to maintain internal cohesion cannot be entrusted with governing a complex country like Nigeria, describing the PDP’s current situation as a “cautionary tale.”
Oladejo further expressed concern over what he termed the decline of responsible opposition politics, attributing it to internal conflicts, indiscipline, and lack of clear direction.
He urged opposition parties to emulate the APC’s strategy during its years in opposition, which he said was built on discipline, resilience, and strategic planning.
“The APC did not stumble into power; it built trust, earned legitimacy, and presented Nigerians with a clear and compelling alternative,” he said.
The Lagos APC, however, maintained that it remains focused on governance, strengthening democratic institutions, and delivering results for Nigerians.
