The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to elect a candidate today to represent the party in the forthcoming bye-election for the Ebonyi South Senatorial District scheduled for February 3, 2023.
The vacancy arose following the resignation of Senator Dave Umahi, who stepped down from the Senate after his appointment as the Minister of Works by Bola Tinubu.
The APC Committee from the National Secretariat has conducted the screening of Professor Anthony Okorie Ani, who is vying for the party’s ticket in the primary election.

Out of the two aspirants who purchased forms for the primary, only Professor Ani completed and returned his form to the party, standing for the screening on Thursday.
Princess Ann Agom-Eze, the second aspirant, neither returned her form nor attended the screening despite public announcements.
Smart Iheazor, the Chairman of the screening/special congress committee, confirmed these details to reporters in Abakaliki on Friday. He stated, “Two persons purchased forms and out of the two, only one person returned the completed forms. The second person did not return her forms and also did not show up for the screening despite radio and other media announcements to that effect.”
He further added, “We were able to successfully screen one person; Professor Anthony Okorie Ani, and he was also duly cleared to run for the seat of Ebonyi South Senatorial District.
The second person that purchased the form but did not return it to the party head office is one Princess Ann Agom-Eze. She didn’t show up for the screening neither did she return the form she purchased from the party.”
The APC primary election today will determine the candidate who will represent the party in the upcoming bye-election for Ebonyi South Senatorial District.
