The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended an invitation to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, urging him to join their ranks, asserting that his presence is crucial for the party.
Tony Okocha, the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee, emphasized the party’s current position in power during a press conference in Port Harcourt, following the defection of 27 state lawmakers to the APC.
Responding to queries about Wike’s potential move to the APC, Okocha stated, “I don’t think so. Whatever their reason is, when they get to the bridge they will cross it.”

He acknowledged Wike’s significant political influence and past support for the APC in the state during the 2023 elections.
“The best thing we are asking him to do is to come and join the APC because it is the government in power,” Okocha concluded, underlining the party’s appeal to the influential FCT Minister.
