The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State has announced the indefinite suspension of former Senator Chuka Utazi over alleged anti-party activities.
Utazi, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District between 2015 and 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defected to the APC in 2024.
However, in a notification letter dated April 12, 2025, and addressed to the State Chairman of APC, Barr. Ugochukwu Agballah, party officials said the suspension followed a petition from Utazi’s Nkpologu Ward.

The letter was jointly signed by Chief Chris Ajodo (LGA Chairman), Hon. Pius Diara (LGA Secretary), and Hon. Albert Aniebonam (Nkpologu Ward Chairman), and was also copied to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, who is the party leader in the state.
According to the letter, Utazi was accused of attending PDP Enugu North Zonal Chapter meetings and participating in the endorsement of Governor Peter Mbah for a second term in 2027.
He was also alleged to have granted interviews and made public statements blackmailing and de-marketing the APC in Enugu State.
“These allegations were backed up by online video evidences,” the party noted.
The party explained that upon receiving the petition, a three-man disciplinary committee was set up on April 8, 2025. Utazi was notified and invited to appear before the committee but reportedly failed to honour the invitation.
“Despite his refusal to appear, the committee conducted a thorough investigation and found the senator guilty of the allegations,” the letter stated.
The disciplinary committee described Utazi’s conduct as “highly disappointing, repugnant and unbecoming of a bona fide member of the APC,” recommending his indefinite suspension from the party.
Following the submission of the committee’s report and supporting video evidence, the APC Uzo-Uwani Executive Committee unanimously endorsed the suspension, citing the party’s constitution as the basis for the action.
