The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has said the party is tactfully addressing the impeachment moves against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Yilwatda made this known on Sunday while responding to questions during an interview on Trust TV.
Recall that the Rivers State political scene has in recent weeks been fraught with controversy, following moves by members of the State House of Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.

However, the APC national chairman disclosed that the party has initiated steps to reverse the impeachment process, describing the matter as an internal party issue.
“Are you hearing anything about the impeachment of Rivers State Governor Fubara again? We are discussing this with the lawmakers because that is an internal party issue,” Yilwatda said.
He explained that the APC possesses internal mechanisms for resolving conflicts and stabilising the party whenever disputes arise.
“That is why the APC is different from any other party. We have a lot of mechanisms for resolving our internal issues. We have a lot of mechanisms that we have put in place that can resolve and self-heal the party when we have injuries, and that’s what we’re doing in Rivers,” he said.
According to him, the party is focused on restoring stability in Rivers State and strengthening its political fortunes ahead of future elections.
“We’re self-healing the process in Rivers. We’re ensuring that we stabilise Rivers State and we maximise opportunities in Rivers State so that we can win and win overwhelmingly in the state,” Yilwatda added.
