The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos State has dismissed the petition filed by Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege challenging the victory of Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, citing a lack of merit in the case.
Sen. Omo-Agege, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), contested against Gov. Oborevwori, who belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The three-member panel of the appellate court issued the judgement on Friday, upholding the decision of the Election Petition Tribunal in Delta State.

In response to the court’s decision, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has extended congratulations to Governor Oborevwori.
In a statement signed by PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr Ifeanyi Osuoza, he expressed joy and satisfaction, describing the victory as a significant stride in implementing the MORE agenda for Deltans.
The statement further emphasized the PDP’s confidence in the judiciary, reaffirming the party’s position that they overwhelmingly won the 2023 Delta State Governorship election.
Mr. Osuoza urged the petitioners to consider the Appeal Court verdict and refrain from additional legal challenges to avoid unnecessary resource expenditure.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, acknowledged for his governance and leadership skills, is now poised to continue delivering the dividends of democracy.
The PDP’s message conveyed a desire for unity, encouraging all Deltans to join hands in realizing the MORE Agenda for the collective benefit of the state.
