Arsenal Double winner Nigel Winterburn has urged Mikel Arteta to use Ethan Nwaneri at the heart of his team’s midfield instead of Martin Odegaard. He recently revealed that Nwaneri has done enough to be trusted more by the Spanish manager.
Speaking to the press, Nigel shared that even though Odegaard has a very good link-up with Saka, Ethan demands the ball more during matches.

According to him, Odegaard’s football has gone stale for a while now, and it is time for Arteta to look to Nwaneri for something different on the pitch.
He stated that, unlike the team’s captain, Ethan also has the ability to go past players easily.
“When Nwaneri came on in Odegaard’s position, he played a slightly different role.
When Odegaard plays, he has that really good link-up with Saka on the right side, but I liked seeing Nwaneri take up a different position and demand the ball more.
He got on the ball a lot more, and his passing was excellent. He’s got that superb ability to go past a player in midfield as well if Arteta is looking for something different,” he said.
Nigel’s wish might not come to pass anytime soon because Mikel Arteta recently reiterated his absolute faith in the former Real Madrid midfielder.
Referencing the unanimous vote by the players to select him as Arsenal captain, Mikel disclosed that he has no questions about Martin’s leadership qualities.
“By a mile, by 100 miles, everybody chose the same person which is Odegaard.
Which is the most clear sign you can have is how they feel about who has to be their captain, to defend, improve and win the matches we want to win. I think there is no question about that,” he added.
