President Buhari’s trip to the Peoples Republic of China certainly seems to be yielding the desired results.
The Government of China has increased its annual scholarship to Nigerian students from 100 to 700.
This is in addition to a $6b loan for infrastructure and another $15m to boost agriculture in Nigeria.
The Chinese President, Xi Jinping also expressed his support for Buhari’s war against corruption.
China also offered to exchange ideas in the area of civil service and military capacity building.
President Jinping also assured Buhari that his country will help Nigeria achieve its desire to diversify its economy.
The Chinese also expressed their interest to invest in other sectors of Nigeria’s economy including refineries, power plants, mining companies, textile manufacturing etc.
A major investment into Nigeria’s mining sector should also be expected soon, as a Chinese firm also signed an agreement with CBN and Zenith bank, to establish a mining plant.
President Buhari has been highly criticised for his foreign trips, which he says is aimed at wooing investors.
