Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged President Bola Tinubu to a presidential debate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku said a debate would provide Nigerians with an opportunity to hear directly from the major contenders and assess their plans for the country.

The former vice president urged Tinubu to engage him in an open discussion on the state of the nation, the economy and other issues affecting Nigerians.
Atiku maintained that Nigerians deserved to know the policy direction and priorities of those seeking their votes in the 2027 presidential election.
He said political leaders should be willing to subject their records, policies and programmes to public scrutiny.
The challenge comes amid increasing political activities and exchanges between the Tinubu administration and opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku is expected to be among the leading opposition figures seeking to challenge Tinubu as political parties continue to position themselves for the presidential contest.
