The leadership of the proposed 2027 National Coalition, reportedly aligned with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has refuted claims that it has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Malam Salihu Lukman, a prominent member of the coalition and former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made this clarification in a statement issued on Thursday.
Reacting to a report by Vanguard newspaper, Lukman denied being appointed as head of the coalition’s secretariat and dismissed the report as false and misleading.

“My attention has been drawn to the Vanguard Newspaper publication claiming that I have been appointed to head the secretariat of the coalition. The public should disregard the story as it is completely false. No such decision has been taken,” he said.
He further clarified that the coalition has not adopted the ADC as its platform, contrary to claims that such a decision was made during a meeting held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
“Also false is the report that the coalition has adopted the ADC at its meeting of Tuesday, May 20, 2025,” Lukman stated.
According to him, negotiations among coalition leaders are still ongoing, and a final decision regarding the platform for the 2027 elections will be made in due course.
He assured that the public would be duly informed once a consensus is reached, and urged Nigerians to disregard the false reports.
“Once negotiations are concluded, a formal announcement will be made by the leaders of the coalition,” he added.
