Atletico Madrid legend Diego Godin has openly criticised Julian Alvarez following his controversial attempt to engineer a summer transfer to Barcelona. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
Admitting that Atletico fans have every right to feel betrayed by the Argentine’s conduct, Godin warned Alvarez that rebuilding burned bridges at the club will require immense effort and humility.

Diego added that it is no big deal to want a transfer out of a club, but the manner of approach has to be right.
His words, “Julian Alvarez is a fantastic player. He must be a great guy, but I think he made a mistake… The fans’ anger is completely understandable. We all get that someone might want to leave, but it’s about how you leave, the way you go about it.
I think we all agree that he messed up. Now he’ll have to face the music, and if he wants to repair the relationship, he needs to make good gestures toward the fans.
I don’t know if Julian Alvarez will be able to repair the relationship. It cost Antoine an enormous amount of effort, and with Julian, we’ll see… Time will tell, but what’s certain is that people will expect him, at the very least, to give everything on the pitch whenever he gets his chance.”
