Usher reportedly racked out $1.1 million to settle a lawsuit with a lady who claimed the singer infected her with herpes. Court documents dated back to late 2012 show that the 38-year-old singer, whose real name is Usher Raymond IV, was diagnosed with herpes in 2009 or 2010. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kuje Area Council of the FCT says it registered 3,500 voters in the first quarter of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise in the area. Mrs Zainab Gbefwi, the Electoral Officer of Kuje, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kuje. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Thursday asked the Federal High Court, Abuja, to set aside an earlier order of the court, suspending the recall of Sen. Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi). INEC commenced Melaye’s recall following the receipt of a petition from members of his constituency demanding that he be recalled. Melaye, however, approached the court, seeking an order stopping INEC from going ahead with the process, pending the determination of a suit he filed challenging his recall. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it will appeal Thursday’s acquittal of a former Governor of Adamawa, Bala Ngilari, by the Court of Appeal. In a statement on Friday, spokesman of the commission, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, described the ruling as “a travesty of justice’’. An Adamawa High Court in Yola had on March 6 sentenced Ngilari to five years imprisonment after he was convicted of a five-count charge of corruption. The Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development is to spend about N12.9 billion for capital expenditures in 2017, against N7.3 billion appropriated for similar projects in 2016. This is part of its fiscal allocations approved by the Federal Government in the year’s budget.
