Eden Hazard felt Chelsea passed another test on their way to the Premier League title after seeing off Bournemouth 3-1. The Blues arrived at Dean Court only four points clear at the top after Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Watford earlier on Saturday but they comfortably restored their seven-point advantage. Chelsea opened the scoring through Adam Smith’s own goal before Hazard outfoxed Artur Boruc to double the visitors’ lead. Joshua King’s deflected strike handed Bournemouth a lifeline but Marcos Alonso’s curling free-kick midway through the second half sealed Chelsea’s fifth win in six games. “We passed a test,” said Hazard. “We…

Luis Enrique was as critical as he’s ever been of a refereeing performance after Barcelona’s title hopes were dented by a 2-0 loss at Malaga on Saturday. A win would have moved Barca level with Real Madrid, who drew with Atletico earlier in the day, but goals from Sandro Ramirez and Jony sandwiched a Neymar red card and left the Catalan side three points back from the league leaders. Neymar was given his marching orders for two bookings — his first for fiddling with his boots and delaying a Malaga free kick — and Luis Enrique questioned referee Jesus Gil…
Neymar could miss the Clasico against Real Madrid later this month after the Barcelona forward sarcastically applauded the fourth official after being sent off against Malaga. The Brazilian was sent off for picking up a second yellow card as his side were beaten 2-0 at La Rosaleda on Saturday, slipping three points behind Real Madrid, who had drawn 1-1 at Atletico Madrid earlier in the day. A dismissal for two yellow cards only earns a one-game suspension, but referee Jesus Gil Manzano included Neymar’s petty reaction to the fourth official in his postgame report. That could add up to three…
Jose Mourinho suggested last weekend that he had considered abandoning a push for the Premier League’s top four to focus on European competition and failure to beat Sunderland on Sunday may see that pledge become a reality. United’s best hope of qualifying for next season’s Champions League increasingly appears to be by winning the Europa League, with the first leg of their quarter-final against Anderlecht in Belgium on Thursday. Mourinho’s team face a congested fixture list — the visit to Sunderland will be their third of nine matches during April. The first two ended in disappointing home draws against West…

Coutinho equalised with 20 minutes to play before, two minutes later, Georginio Wijnaldum released Firmino to slam…
>It feels peculiar that sixth-placed Manchester United have not lost in the Premier League since October. That’s probably because during those six months a number of their 10 top-flight draws have felt like defeats. They’ve drawn a total of 12 times in the league this season, with a staggering nine of those coming at Old Trafford. The stalemates have been put down to wasteful and/or unlucky finishing. Perhaps, though, there’s a deeper layer to this: Jose Mourinho’s players are not completely at ease in that split second of striking or heading the ball goalwards because maybe at the back of…
