Kano and Kaduna State Governments have concluded plans to generate electricity from solid waste. Environmental officials in the two states gave the indication in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has sacked his entire cabinet. This is contained in a statement issued in Uyo on Saturday by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Etekamba Umoren. Umoren directed the Permanent Secretaries to take over from the commissioners pending the formation of a new cabinet. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced investigations into the activities of some ministers in President Buhari’s cabinet. According to Punch, a source in the anti-graft agency said one minister from the South-East is being investigated for allegedly moving huge sums of money outside Nigeria. The source also said the minister, who is said to have shares in a telecommunications company, helped the laundering of funds abroad. Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo on Sunday dismissed the assertion that President Muhammadu Buhari’s three-day visit to Germany was more of a medical trip than official engagements. Gareth Bale will ask to be paid a gross wage of £750,000 a week, the same amount as Cristiano Ronaldo, in order to sign a new six-year contract with Real Madrid, the Times reports.
