The Owa of Igbajo, Oba Olufemi Fashade has passed on. He died after an illness at the age of 81. The late monarch was crowned king in 1990. Igbajo is a town in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State. Fashade was born on April 17, 1939, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He attended Baptist School, Ebute-metta Lagos; Abeokuta High School; Kiriji Memorial College; Tottenham College, London, and Hammersmith College, London. Fashade enlisted in the Nigeria Army in June 1969 and retired voluntarily as a Major in December 1977.
Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC), may lose the 2023 election in the state if the crisis in the party is not checked. Badaru stated this while speaking at the inauguration of the APC caretaker committee in Duste, state’s capital, on Friday. Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has signed into law the anti-kidnapping, anti-land grabbing, cultism and other anti-violence related matters bill passed by the State House of Assembly. Lalong, while signing the bill, said the law was long overdue following the increase in cases of kidnapping, land grabbing and other violent crimes within the state.
