The Kwara Police Command has deployed 3, 200 personnel to ensure peaceful ward congresses of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Saturday. The Commissioner of Police, Ambrose Asaibor, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Ilorin. The police chief said officers and men had already been posted to the 193 wards in the state. First Executive Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke and former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defence, Hon. Wole Oke, have both withdrawn from today’s governorship primary elections of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, slated to hold in Oshogbo, the state capital. Gov. Umaru Al-makura of Nasarawa State has called on the Federal Government to review the military operation in the state to guide against civilian casualties. Al-makura made the call when he paid a condolence visit on the paramount ruler ‘Osana of Keana’ Emmanuel Elayo, over the killing of herdsmen on Friday in Keana. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has launched investigations into the alleged use of chemical weapons on civilians by suspected gunmen in some parts of Benue State last month.
